Some of us have changed the world – essay by Magda Petcu, S6

Nowadays, society takes all the bad examples and introduces them into their behaviour. There are a lot of young people that want to change it in a good way. But do they succeed in doing that? And if there is only one person, that wants to improve society’s concepts about life on his/her own?

In my opinion, in every society there is a person that wants to change others’ views, that want to persuade them that everything can be fine if they want and try. The best examples that have changed society (and even the world) are the leaders. A role model for people all over the world is Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. She is a monarch and everyone respects and admires her for what she’s done, during her long career as a queen. She succeeded on her own in making a better and more beautiful society, without violence.

There’s no doubt that there were also other important „changes” around history, but one of the best is Shakespeare. In his written work, he changed people’s views on romantic art and nowadays his books are read by thousands of people all over the world. „Romeo and Juliet” is the best example and maybe the most beautiful of his writings. It is the well-known forbidden love story.

On the other hand, during your lifetime, it is hard to do some kind of things on your own and you have to be supported by friends or relatives. Most of the people changed society’s mind and stopped violence and bad things in this world have people supporting them.

However, on the balance, if you try and want to, you can change society in a good way, but you have to be ambitious and have an optimistic approach on life.
